The City of Mont-Saint-Hilaire permits the cutting of trees under the following conditions:
The tree is dead or damaged
The tree is affected by a disease or infected by an insect.
The tree is dangerous to the safety of people or damage to property
Tree planting
The City of Mont-Saint-Hilaire requires the replacement of the felled tree by the planting in the front yard of a native tree with a minimum trunk diameter of 5 cm measured at 1 meter from the ground if the property does not have a density of one tree per 50m2. The City of Mont-Saint-Hilaire does not provide grants for tree removal or planting.
