Conditions for the felling of trees

The City of Cowansville allows the felling of trees under the following conditions:

• The tree is dead or damaged
• The tree is affected by a disease or infected by an insect.
• The tree is dangerous to the safety of people or damage to property

Tree planting

The City of Cowansville requires the replacement of the felled tree by a plantation within 30 days of its felling with at least one hardwood tree with a minimum height at planting of 2.5 m by a conifer with a minimum height at planting of 1.5 m.

Permit for tree cutting

To obtain a tree cutting permit, the owner must apply to the City of Cowansville’s Urban Planning Department at urbanismecowansville@ville.cowansville.qc.ca for a tree cutting certificate of authorization.

Tree Planting Grant

The City of Cowansville does not provide grants for tree cutting or planting.
